As a postdoctoral scholar in the laboratory of Dr. Suzanne Edmands, I continued to utilize transcriptome sequencing technique to work on the effects of mitochondria and mitonuclear interactions on sex-specific aging in Tigriopus californicus, including assays of mortality rate, mtDNA content, oxidative stress and gene expression. My work will be focused on RNA extraction of single individuals, preparation of low-input RNA sequencing libraries and co-expression networking analysis between mitochondrial and nuclear genes to develop T. californicus as a model system for understanding of the mitochondrial basis of aging.
