As an undergraduate, I worked in Dr. Qi Li’s lab on the development and characterization of molecular markers in two shellfish species, namely Neverita didyma and Mactra veneriformis. After graduation, I became a master student in Dr. Qi Li’s lab and continued to work on isolation and characterization of molecular markers in another species Scapharca broughtonii. In addition, I also worked to develop multiplex PCR primer sets to decease costs and increase efficiency in each PCR reaction so that they can be widely used in the parentage and population assignments in the ark shell S. broughtonii.
